Two charged after fleeing from police, tire deflation device deployed

Two men have been charged after attempting to evade police between La Ronge and Sucker River.

According to an RCMP media release, on April 27 members of the La Ronge RCMP began investigating the trafficking of drugs from a residence in Sucker River.

A man matching the description of an individual involved in a shooting incident on April 12 was seen driving a blue Ford Escape days prior and had driven off from police during two separate traffic stop attempts in Stanley Mission and La Ronge.

Officers observed this man enter the Escape and drive out of Sucker River towards La Ronge. Officer’s attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled southbound on Highway 102.

Poilce set up a tire deflation device north of La Ronge and were able to successfully stop the vehicle, just as it was entering the Town of La Ronge after a short pursuit. The driver fled on foot, but was apprehended a short distance later.

Johnathon Natomagan, 28, of Stanley Mission was charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, obstruction, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failing to comply with a release condition and failure to comply with a probation order.

In addition, 38-year-old Vincent Eninew of La Ronge was located in the vehicle after the stop and was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

Both men were scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court today.
