Murder trial adjourned until November

The trial for the accused murderer of 46-year-old Jennifer Hendry of Air Ronge has been delayed.

The trial for the accused, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was expected to begin this morning at the La Ronge Provincial Court. The courtroom had been booked for three days this week.

The trial is now expected to start Nov. 6. larongeNOW was unable to confirm the reason for the delay.

Hendry was murdered during an invasion of her home on Waco Drive on Jan. 8, 2022. In the days following, RCMP reached out to the public with a photo and video of her suspected killer.

Less than a week later, RCMP announced the arrest of a male teen and charged him with first-degree murder. He is also facing one charge of robbery.

Hendry was well-known in the communities of Air Ronge and La Ronge, where she lived and worked for almost 20 years. She worked first as an instructor at Northlands College, and more recently with the La Ronge RCMP and Saskatchewan Health Authority.
