La Ronge RCMP arrest five after pursuit, seek assistance locating SUV

Five residents of La Ronge have been charged following a high-speed chase with police.

According to a media release issued Wednesday, the La Ronge RCMP received a complaint of a robbery after a local resident was forcibly removed from her vehicle, which was subsequently stolen. Residents of La Ronge would have noticed an increased police presence in the area of Bells Point, Far Reserve and Fairchild as the suspect refused to stop for police resulting in a short pursuit.

The suspects then abandoned the vehicle in Bells Point and ran into the wooded area, where they were all eventually taken into custody. As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged 20-year-old Alice Milne and 25-year-old Henry Sanderson with robbery and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

In addition, 21-year-old Tynielle Simon has been charged with robbery, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and breach of a release order. A 16-year-old youth, who can’t be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has also been charged with robbery and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Sampson Roberts, 22, was also charged with robbery, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault of a police officer with a weapon, resisting arrest and driving while prohibited. Roberts was recently released from custody on May 11 from a previous incident where the RCMP Emergency Response Team had to be deployed to La Ronge.

Roberts and Simon have been remanded into custody to appear in La Ronge Provincial court on May 18 at 9:30 a.m. Milne, Sanderson and the 16-year-old youth have been released from custody to appear in La Ronge Provincial court on July 3 at 9:30 a.m.

In regards to a separate investigation, La Ronge RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify a darker, possibly green coloured SUV with tinted windows that was in the area of Cook Crescent on May 16 around 6:15 p.m.

The occupants of this vehicle may be responsible for discharging several gun shots in the area of Cook Crescent and the La Ronge RCMP would like help in identifying those involved.
