Predators continue to roll with 15-8 win over Swat

The Prince Albert Predators picked up another win on the road on Tuesday night, thrashing their rival Saskatoon Jr. Swat 15-8.

The win keeps the Preds in second place in the PGLL junior standings where they sit two points back of the Swift Current Wolverines for first place.

Things started off on the right for the blue and gold, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after the opening frame. Tides shifted in the second and Saskatoon began finding their stride, scoring six times against PA’s four in the middle frame as the Preds led 9-7 going into the third.

Prince Albert came out of the blocks hot in the final period, scoring six unanswered before Saskatoon got one back in the late minutes of the contest to make it a 15-8 final.

Brayden Rieger led the way for PA in the contest, netting four goals and three assists. Caidyn Prediger wasn’t too far behind his teammate as he tallied a goal and five assists, Braden Shewchuk had three goals and two helpers, and Matthew Cudmore registered three goals and one assist. Davin Ikert, Tobey Oshanek, Talon Sandry, and Hayden Ulriksen each scored once while Kieron Hoko, Owen Peifer, Koltin Fyrk, and Crosby Ratt each potted an assist.

For the Swat, Henry Elliott was atop the scoresheet with three goals and one assist while Carson Welsh was one behind, managing two goals and an assist. Micaiah Scachtel and Cole Barmby shared the same stat line with one goal and assist while Owen Kolisnyk, Connor Mooney, and Cole Currie each had a pair of helpers. Austin Butler found the back of the net while Justin Epema and Brayden Poelzer both added one assist.

Ratt was between the pipes for the Predators, turning aside 44 shots to help PA improve to 8-1-1 on the year.

Epema manned the crease for Saskatoon and made 68 saves as the Swat fall to 3-8-0.

Prince Albert wraps up their regular season campaign on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Regina Barracudas at Kinsmen Arena. Game one is set for 12 p.m. and game two is slated for 7 p.m.
