The Melfort Multi-K is bringing fun to all ages.

The annual family race that helps to promote activity in the Northeast is welcoming runners back for the 12th year.

The event offers 1k, 5k, 10k, and 21.1 km for people who want to join no matter the distance they choose.

The event begins on Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Race Director Allison Rogers told northeastNOW that runners who want to lace up for the race can get a deal if they register soon.

“Our Early Bird registration for our events ends on the 30th of June. Until the 30th of June, it’s $30. And after that, it’s $40.”

Castle Building has donated $5,000 for 150 children under the age of ten to participate in the 1K fun run.

Rogers explained that this event is only possible with help from sponsors in the community.

“Castle Building had sponsored 150 kids for the last bunch of years to participate. They get to do the 1k they get a shirt, a metal, and a snack (provided by Prairie North Co-op). It’s a great way for kids to get introduced to running and get active.”

There are also registration limits for each race distance with 200 spots for the 1K, 300 for the 5K, 125 for the 10K, and only 35 spots for the 21.2K.

Rogers said she wants to extend her gratitude to all those involved in making the event a success.

“We just wanted to say thank you to them for continuing to support us.”
