Celebrating Canada Day in the Northeast

There is no shortage of things to do this Canada Day in the Northeast.

In Melfort, there is the Party in the Park which will include a wide variety of family activities for everyone to enjoy. The event begins at 11 a.m. and is free for everyone.

Once the sun goes down at approximately 10:30 p.m. there will be a fireworks show happening at the fairgrounds.

There is currently construction leading up to the fairgrounds, so eventgoers are reminded that if they should take Highway 41 to Broadway. There will be signs indicating how to get to the fairgrounds.

Tisdale residents will be able to head down to the Tisdale and District Museum for a pancake breakfast, village fun, barbecue entertainment and cake. There will also be a petting zoo.

The Nipawin Museum has a day filled with activities from sawmill and shingle mill demos, grain milling, rope making, and a threshing demo.

Displays will include old machinery, trucks and cars. There will also be clay-baked bread, pies and other food options available.

Admission is by donation.

The Town of Porcupine Plain is celebrating Quilly Willy Days all long weekend.

Quilly Willy Sports Day is happening at Porcupine Place Sports Grounds for Canada Day.

There is also a day packed with things to do from a Canada Day Parade, Wee Pee/ Pee Wee Gymkhana, Junior/ Senior Gymkhana, live bands, EPCCA Chariots, EPCCA Chuckwagons, fireworks, and more.

Those looking for a bit of excitement can also visit Humboldt for the summer sizzler. The event is Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Uniplex.

Wakaw Heritage Museum will be having a celebration from noon to 4:00 p.m. with a lay in the park, a barbecue, emergency responders open house and a fish pond.

Fireworks happen at dusk with a beer garden starting at 7:00 p.m. from the northwest corner of the arena.
