Battlefords RCMP conclude investigation into abduction complaint, find no criminality involved

An investigation by Battlefords RCMP into an alleged abduction has concluded, and the findings say there was no criminality involved or risk to the public.

On June 20, 2023, police received a report of an attempted abduction on 110th Street near St. Laurent Drive in North Battleford.

It was reported that a teenage girl was walking down the street when a man in a black vehicle called out to her and asked if she wanted money.

The girl continued walking and near the 1300 block of 110th Street, the man in the SUV then allegedly attempted to grab her. The teen ran for help, and the SUV drove away.

In a statement provided to the media on Tuesday, Battlefords RCMP confirmed they immediately responded and that officers conducted extensive patrols and continued a priority investigation

“Based on evidence collected, officers have determined there was no criminality involved or risk to the public. Battlefords RCMP is releasing this information to assure the community no risk was identified after a fulsome investigation,” the statement read.

Battlefords RCMP proceeded to thank the public and the media for spreading awareness on this investigation.
