La Ronge RCMP are investigating after a man broke into an Air Ronge residence and assaulted an occupant.

On Aug. 19 at approximately 2:30 a.m., police received a report of an assault on Vickers Crescent.

An investigation determined an adult man broke into the residence and assaulted an adult woman. He then fled on foot. The victim was treated in hospital for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Officers immediately responded and began patrolling for the suspect, who is described as being in his mid 20s, approximately 6-2 to 6-3 tall with a medium build. He has dark-coloured hair and dark, bushy eyebrows. He was wearing a black hoodie at the time of the assault.

A family member who posted to social media, described the victim as a woman in her 50’s who was home alone with her grandchildren.

The family member also stated the woman fought off the intruder, but while doing so suffered injuries to her hands, face, and ribs. There was also the obvious emotional trauma.
