Man charged with trafficking cocaine, numerous weapons offenses

La Ronge RCMP have charged a man with trafficking cocaine, as well as several weapons offenses.

On Aug. 24 at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence located on Far Reserve Road in relation to an ongoing drugs and weapons investigation.

Police secured a perimeter around the residence to ensure public and officer safety. No injuries were sustained by anyone involved in relation to this investigation.

One adult male was located and arrested on scene without incident.

A search of the property incidental to the arrest resulted in officers locating and seizing a handgun with the serial number defaced, approximately 4 ounces of suspected cocaine, a sum of cash in both Canadian and American currency, a cross-bow, drug paraphernalia, knives, a machete and a hatchet.

As a result of this investigation, 47-year-old Dennis Riley Charles has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime and numerous weapons charges.

Charles was scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Aug. 25.
