Nominations are open for the upcoming Tri-Community Awards Gala.

The event is meant to recognize businesses or organizations that demonstrate excellence, as well as individuals whose contributions make a difference in the region. Award categories include Employee of the Year, Employer of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, Small Business of the Year (one to five employees), Business of the Year (six or more employees) and the Hugh Watt Legacy Award.

Nominations, which can be submitted until Sept. 3, can be made online here.

“It’s a huge annual event that the Chamber has been doing and we see great support from everybody in the tri-community who come out to support either their business they own or they work for or even the non-profits bring out all of their guests and families and there’s tons of support that comes around,” organizer Tia Watt said.

“Last year, it was a little bit smaller. We didn’t have as many activities, so this year we are back at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre. We will be hosting a silent auction [and] there will be a photo booth opportunity. Not a lot of businesses and their employees get out and get dressed up, so this is a great opportunity for people to come, take pictures and have nice photos of everyone looking fresh.”

There will also possibly be live entertainment and Watt noted more information about the event will be released in the coming weeks. She explained the winners will be chosen by a selection committee, which will consist of tri-community volunteers without any representation from the La Ronge and District Chamber of Commerce.

Winners of the 2022 gala were Scott Robertson (Hugh Watt Legacy Award), Abby Besharah (Entrepreneur), DGS Plus (Home-Based Business), La Ronge and Area KidSport (Non-Profit), KFC (Restaurant), Rona (Retail Business), Co-op Marketplace and C-Stores (Service, Industry, Trades), Jayme Woodhouse McKenzie (Youth Leader/Entrepreneur), and Daina Lapworth who won Citizen of the Year.
