The local Legions in the Battlefords are already starting to make plans to honour Remembrance Day.

As a reminder, the event will fall on a Saturday this year.

The North Battleford Royal Canadian Legion Branch 70 will hold a community Remembrance Day Service on Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Don Ross Centre in North Battleford. It will also be broadcast on CJNB, Access Communications, and live-streamed.

Following the service, people are welcome to drop by the Legion Hall for lunch and camaraderie.

Legion #70 President Gordon Brown asks people wherever they are to spend some time on Remembrance Day “to remember our veterans, past and present.”

The Battleford Legion Branch #9 Remembrance Day service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the St. Vital School auditorium.

Legion vice-president Tim Popp reminds people to make sure they arrive in time and take their seats right away.

After the service, they are invited to a light lunch at the Legion Hall. There will also be a dinner starting at 4:30 p.m., as a ticketed event.

Leading up to Remembrance Day, the Legion #9 will host a Poppy Tea at the Legion Hall in Battleford on Nov. 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Royal Canadian Legion’s 2023 National Poppy Campaign begins at the end of October. All funds raised from the Poppy Campaign across Canada support veterans and their families. The national campaign officially starts Oct. 27 and runs through Nov. 11.
