Meadow Lake Legion plans Remembrance Day service

Oct 23, 2023 | 3:21 PM

The Meadow Lake Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 is getting ready to hold its annual Remembrance Day ceremony again this year.

The event will take place Nov. 11 at the Civic Centre in Meadow Lake, with seating starting at 10 a.m.

The Legion’s Poppy Chair, Alloha Twanow, is involved in organizing the event. Seating will be available for over 200 people.

“We would like to see our community support us,” Twanow said. “They have always supported us well in the past. I’m looking forward to the same support this year.”

The ceremony will start at 10:15 a.m. and run until 11:30 a.m. The event will include a moment of silence at 11 a.m., followed by a laying of wreaths in front of the stage. The Meadow Lake New Horizons Band will also perform.

After the service, people are welcome to stop by the Legion Hall at 109 -1 St. W. for a complimentary light lunch and some camaraderie.
