Wanted man from Melfort area arrested while driving stolen vehicle

A man wanted by Melfort RCMP was officially arrested while driving a stolen vehicle.

A warrant had been issued for the man, from Melfort and Yorkton RCMP, who faced multiple different charges including assault, flight from police, and driving while prohibited.

On Monday, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatoon Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) found him in the Good Spirit Lake area and when he was told he was under arrest he fled in a vehicle.

Officers were able to catch up to him and arrest him without incident.

It was determined that the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen from the Melfort area back on Oct. 13. 2023.

The man now faces additional charges including possession of property obtained by crime and flight from a peace officer.

He was scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Tuesday.
