Hawks soar into the Battlefords looking to dim Stars
The Nipawin Hawks will meet the Battlefords North Stars on Friday night seeking their third straight win.
In the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) last game Nipawin defeated Melville 6-1 on the road Nov. 21. Hawks Head Coach Tad Kozun said his team played well in their sixth victory away from the Centennial Arena this season.
“It’s always nice when you can put up six goals and have a little bit of an easier night where you are not fighting in the last minute to protect the lead or trying to get a lead back. The guys rewarded themselves for how hard they worked and doing things the right way,” Kozun said Friday morning.
The Hawks have climbed back to have a winning record again with 12 victories and 11 losses, with the win versus the Millionaires. Going into Friday’s third meeting of the year with the Battlefords at Access Communications Centre, Kozun said the club needs to build off the wins and piece together their first three-game winning streak of the year.
