Michelson man’s first SJHL goal is game winner for Hawks
Nipawin’s Finley Radloff had his first Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) hat trick Tuesday in Yorkton versus the Terriers, but it was Moose Jaw’s Jacob Michelson stealing the spotlight getting his first goal and the game winner in a 6-3 Hawks’ win.
The Hawks traveled to Westland Arena for the first time this season looking for their first victory against Yorkton after suffering a pair of losses earlier in November.
Radloff opened the scoring in the first period, Artem Hrabovetskyi also tickled the twine giving Nipawin a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Radloff scored again in the second giving the visitors a 3-0 cushion going into the final frame.
The Terriers bounced back scoring twice cutting the lead to 3-2 in the last period, but Michelson was able to beat Adam Kelly making the score 4-2 and restoring the Hawks momentum. The 18-year-old said finally getting his first was a moment he won’t forget.
