A man from Alberta is facing a long list of charges in connection to an attempted fuel theft earlier this week in Arborfield, that also several police officers being assaulted.

Tristan Edge, 29, is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Dec. 11.

On Thursday, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Carrot River RCMP received a report of an attempted theft.

The investigation determined the suspect attempted to steal fuel from a large fuel tank. When confronted by a property representative, the suspect then began chasing the property representative in a vehicle. The property representative was not physically injured.

Officers located the suspect in a parked vehicle in Arborfield and approached it. The suspect then rammed two police vehicles and struck an unoccupied parked truck. The officers in the rammed police vehicles received minor injuries.

The vehicle came to a stop a short time later and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect assaulted the officers while he was being arrested, and initially resisted when officers attempted to place him in cells. He refused to comply with a breath test officers demanded.

As a result of continued investigation, Edge, who is from Fort Saskatchewan, is charged with assaulting a peace officer, failing to stop for peace officer, failing to comply with a breathalyzer test, and operating a conveyance in a manner that was dangerous to the public.
