NESD support workers support strike mandate

Dec 11, 2023 | 2:07 PM

Education support workers for the North East School Division (NESD) are one step closer to potentially walking off the job.

Members voted on Thursday in favour of a strike mandate. Around 75 per cent of the roughly 320 members took part with 91 per cent of them supporting the idea.

This does not mean that they’ll be hitting the picket line, just that the union can call a strike if a deal can’t be met between them and the NESD.

The main issue between the two sides appears to be wages.
