Update: RCMP find missing inmate from Willow Cree Healing Lodge

Update: Leslie Sand, who was missing from the Willow Cree Healing Lodge in Duck Lake, has been captured by the Saskatoon RCMP detachment.

He was reported missing after not being present at the 5:00 pm prisoner count on Dec. 16.

The Correctional Service of Canada and RCMP are looking for an inmate who walked away from the Willow Cree Healing Lodge in Duck Lake.

Leslie Sand, 43, stands five-foot-ten, weighs 146 lbs and has fair skin, green eyes and brown hair.

He also has a smiley face tattoo on his right calf.

The Lodge found Sand missing during the 5:00 pm count on Dec. 16.

Sand is serving a sentence of four years, four months and eight days for possession of a restricted gun with ammunition, having a gun despite being banned, obtaining credit using false pretences and other gun and property crimes.

Anyone with information on where Sand might be is asked to call the Rosthern RCMP.

Corrections Canada said it will investigate the circumstances of how Sand came to be missing from the minimum security facility.
