Woman sentenced after running over man on James Smith Cree Nation

The woman charged after a man was run over by a vehicle on the James Smith Cree Nation, has learned her fate.

Thirty-eight-year-old Deborah Burns received an 18-month conditional sentence order at her sentencing in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday, Jan. 8, along with 24 months probation, and an 18-month driving prohibition.

Burns pleaded guilty to one count of operation of a motor vehicle while impaired causing bodily harm.

She received a stay of proceedings on one count of failure to stop after an accident.
