Digital Humboldt is now available as an app.

Anyone can now download it at the Apple App Store or on Google Play.

Marketing & Development Manager Penny Lee told northeastNOW it’s a new initiative as part of the city’s communication strategy to keep everyone up-to-date with what is happening around the city.

The app also promotes fundraising events for organizations and non-profit groups, along with other notifications for residents.

“We will be posting information about drinking water advisories, road closures, messaging directly from council, those sorts of important information that the public would like to know about,” explained Lee.

She said push notifications can be sent out as well for important public notices.

Lee explained the city often hears from residents that they didn’t hear about a public notice or hear about an event. While the city has a long list of mediums to distribute that information, she said the app covers more bases.

She added it’s easy to download, doesn’t take up much space on your phone, and features access to a community events calendar. Residents can also submit events through the app, or by contacting Lee directly at City Hall. Lee said the city wants to spread the word so people submit their local event information.

Digital Humboldt is also displayed at several locations in the city, including the Uniplex, City Hall, and the museum. Local businesses like the Co-op grocery store and C-store, and the lobby of the Bella Vista Inn also feature Digital Humboldt displays.

Anyone can now download it at the Apple App Store or on Google Play.
