Jan 21, 2024 | 5:29 PM

The Mann-Northway Northern Bears had their work cut out for them this past weekend, taking on the league-best Regina Rebels in a pair of contests.

Game one was on Saturday in Kinistino during Hockey Day in Saskatchewan events and saw the Rebels walk away with a commanding 10-3 victory.

Kadence Dansereau, Addison Greve, and Berlin Lolacher led the Rebels in scoring during the first game, each scoring four points while Avery Gottselig was one point back with three, and Prince Albert’s Stryker Zablocki was one point behind her with two goals. In total, nine different Rebels found the scoresheet.

For the Bears, Zayda Summach, Mikiya Anderson, and Tristyn Endicott each found the back of the net. Julia Cey led the assist department with two while Kinley Brassard netted the other helper.

Nikita Krayetski turned aside 45 in the contest for P.A. and Adriana Bashnick made 11 stops to secure the win for Regina.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE (Saturday)

Despite eight powerplay opportunities for P.A. in Sunday’s matchup, the contest was all Regina as the Rebels blanked the Bears 4-0 at the Art Hauser Centre.

Four different goal scorers tickled twine for the Rebels, including Dansereau, Zablocki, Makayla Peters, and Ashley Breitkreuz. Dansereau also potted two assists as did Greve in game two, with Emily Karpan and Ella Schenher also picking up a helper.

Bashnick was back in net for Regina and stopped all 20 shots she faced to help the Rebels improve to 19-3-1-0 (W-L-OTW-OTL) on the season.

Annika Neufeldt was given the start for the Bears, making 27 saves as Prince Albert falls to 2-13-2-3 on the campaign.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE (Sunday)

The two-game set wraps up the season series between the Bears and Rebels as well as the January schedule for P.A. The Black and Orange return to action on Feb. 8 when they welcome the Saskatoon Stars to Art Hauser Centre for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
