Feb 2, 2024 | 12:00 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos chalked up their 20th win of the season on Thursday night after successfully coming back in the third period against the Notre Dame Hounds at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Mintos found themselves down 3-1 entering the final frame before the Hounds tacked on another to make it 4-1 with less than seven minutes to go. With 5:33 remaining, Lincoln Rogers started the comeback efforts which was followed by a late marker from Carter Cole, scoring with 95 seconds left on the clock.

Prince Albert continued on the pressure and with 0.3 seconds to spare, Raydr Wallington potted the game-tying marker to send it to a winner-take-all overtime, which didn’t take long to decide a winner. Less than 30 seconds into the extra period, Abinet Klassen played the role of overtime hero with his second of the night to help the Mintos over Notre Dame, 5-4.

On top of the markers, Klassen, Cole, and Wallington also potted an assist. Kelan Simmonds led the assist department with two while Will Whitter, Teigan Semchyshen, Kale Margolis, William Chabot, and Carter Bergen each had one.

For the Hounds, Sutton Verot led the way with two goals and an assist, Carter Ellsworth had a goal and an assist, and Austin Watts had two helpers. Koby Bossaer was the other goal scorer for Notre Dame while Aleksandr Skuratov and Henry Parisi were the other assist-getters.

Brady Holtvogt got the nod in goal for P.A., making 17 saves to collect the win and help the Mintos improve to 20-11-4 on the campaign.

Russell Newman was roaming the paint for the Hounds and stopped 35 shots as Notre Dame falls to 9-18-6 on the year.

The Mintos return to action on Friday night when they welcome the Yorkton Maulers to the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
