Tisdale woman wins Great Escape contest

Kara Bleile from Tisdale woke up Saturday morning with some big decisions to make.

Should she take a warm, tropical beach trip with the family or a wild week in Vegas? The possibilities are endless since she was the grand prize winner of the Great Escape!

The contest run by Saskatchewan’s Beach Radio, 105 CJVR and Diamond Dodge had contestants register as VIPs and then listen to the radio stations weekdays at 8:15 for the sound of a jet and the boarding call. If a name was called and they phoned the station within 5 minutes, their name was entered into the grand prize draw.

“I listen to Dave Baker every morning. He drives with me to work and sits beside me at my desk daily. I’ve been a loyal listener for a long time,” said Bleile.

The Great Escape party included a meal of delicious noodle bowls, and a round of prizes before the main draw. Bleile said a highlight was seeing a woman ‘barrell roll’ onto the stage to win tickets to Blake Shelton.

Other winners included a ‘best dressed’ husband and wife team. He dressed up as a mermaid and she wore a pirate costume.

As the grand prize winner Bleile took home a $3000 travel voucher.

She’s always wanted to go to Huatulco, Mexico but is also considering a trip to Vegas because her husband has never been there before.

“Thanks for Beach Radio and 105 CJVR and all of the sponsors for putting on this contest,” she said. “It was a great night.”
