During patrols by Meadow Lake by RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT) on Feb. 27, a traffic stop yielded a successful seizure of weaponry and drugs. The officer found a machete, 13 pills and roughly 10 grams of methamphetamine.

The driver from Flying Dust First Nation was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.

The man is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on April 15. Meanwhile, also on February 27, a 25-year-old man was charged with five firearm offences including pointing a weapon following an incident on Waterhen Lake First Nation.

Meadow Lake RCMP first received the report on that early February morning after a fight broke out between two men in which one of the men pulled a gun on the other – the latter of whom escaped without injuries.

The warrant for the 25-year-old was issued by investigators and he was also wanted for breaching his statutory release by the Correctional Service Canada. In a joint investigation, the RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT) worked to find him. On the first of the month they discovered he was in Beauval with a 25-year-old woman who was, incidentally, also wanted for the theft of a vehicle theft.

During the investigation, the officers also found and took ammunition, about 28 grams of cocaine, items used for trafficking and a loaded gun. Both the man from Meadow Lake and the Beauval woman have been charged with:

– one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking

– one count of unsafe storage of a firearm

– one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

– one count of possession of a firearm knowingly without a license

– one count of possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number

The man is also charged with three counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited, two counts of failing to comply with release order condition and one count of being unlawfully at large and both were arrested for outstanding warrants and were scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Monday, March 4.
