The Nipawin Hawks have a pair of games left in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season including Tuesday’s road finale in Melville against the Millionaires.

Eliminated from the postseason race on Friday in Melfort the Hawks are playing out the final week with pride. The team fell 6-3 to Flin Flon on Sunday but put up a fight against the top team in the SJHL, Head Coach Tad Kozun hopes that continues into game 55 of the year.

“The big thing is we want to end the year on a strong note, we know we’ve got two games left. Especially after the last two we want to go out on a strong note so let’s go in there, play Hawks hockey and do what we know we can and give it all we got,” Kozun said.

The meeting will be the sixth and final contest of the year between the two clubs, Melville has taken the last three games after the Hawks were victorious in the opening two games of the season series.

The Millionaires will head back to the playoffs as they sit comfortable in fifth and have claimed the Viterra Division championship. Kozun said he hopes the players can’t even the season set and have one last happy bus home for his veteran players.

“We’re going to give it all we got, there is nothing to save it for with two games remaining so let’s go have some fun with it,” he said.

Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at the CN Community Centre, the final Duplex Furniture and Appliances Hawks Hockey on 750 Beach Radio of the season will begin at 6:45 p.m.
