Hawks graduate commits to college

Graduated Nipawin Hawks forward Chase Visser has committed to a college in the United States.

After finishing his career this season with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) club, the 20-year-old Barrhead, Alta. product announced he will play for the University of Jamestown Jimmies of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) based in North Dakota. Visser said choosing a school to continue his hockey career and get his desired education was a fun experience.

“You work throughout your junior career to make it to the next level so when teams come looking it always feels pretty good,” he said following the commitment.

Visser suited up for 88 games in Nipawin after being acquired from the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League halfway through the 2022 – 23 season. Visser went on to score 15 goals in a Hawks’ uniform plus was an assistant captain this season. He said the facilities at Jamestown are what he was looking for, plus he begins his journey to becoming a chiropractor.
