The 12th annual Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) Equip to Care campaign had a great start.

Executive Director Lorrie Bunko told northeastNOW it was an amazing four days of raising both funds and awareness.

“We talked to a lot of people, a lot of donations, it was just a really good week,” Bunko said.

Thus far, the campaign has raised a total of $153,307 to help fund a long list of equipment needs for the Humboldt District Hospital. The big-ticket items are a digital X-ray upgrade worth $550,000, a pharmacy upgrade worth $275,000, and many other items including inpatient beds, a bariatric bed, mobile recliners, air mattress pumps, patient armchairs, and an operating room positioner pad.

The total cost of the equipment and projects list is just over $1 million.

Bunko said the amount raised so far is a great start to tackling those needs.

“Thank you to all of our volunteers, to our sponsors, to our local media for helping us out. It takes a lot of people and hands to put something like this together and to execute it and become successful,” explained Bunko.

Donations are accepted throughout the year by calling (306) 682-4450, by visiting www.hdhfoundation.ca, or in person.
