Local teams win provincial high school basketball gold

A couple of local basketball teams were victorious in an abbreviated provincial high-school basketball championship event in Moose Jaw on the weekend.

The St. Brieux Crusaders won the 2A Boys gold medal. The second-seeded Crusaders scored an 81-69 victory over the top-ranked Saskatoon Christian School.

Preeceville took home gold in 2A Girls, with the second-ranked Panthers beating the one-seed St. Brieux Crusaders 64-45.

The two-day Hoopla championship was changed after extra-curricular activities were put on-hold through teachers’ sanctions Thursday and Friday.

Each team played one game based on their ranking during Saturday’s tournament.
