Prince Albert’s Bella Mulhall and Taryn Dumont have earned the right to represent the province next month at the National Senior Girls’ Doubles Bowling Championship.

Provincials were held this past weekend at the Glencairn Bolodrome in Regina. Acknowledging the competition was intense, Mulhall said she looks forward to the next step.

“It’s amazing to represent Sask and an extremely huge accomplishment. I’ll remember it forever,” she said.

Mulhall previously went to Nationals in 2019 for Junior Doubles. Noting she and Dumont started out together, and this is Dumont’s final year before competing at adult tournaments, Mulhall said it’s always been her goal to bring her friend with her to Nationals.

“We keep each other up and help one another. She’s been by my side through most of my accomplishments and I couldn’t thank her more. If I could choose it would be her to go through this amazing experience with,” she said.

This past weekend’s tournament consisted of roughly 10 teams and four games. The gold medal was ultimately decided by the last few frames and final two balls. Dumont told paNOW she was very proud of how they did.

“I had some rough games but having Bella and Michael (coach) there really helped me focus and not worry about the bad frames or games and to just keep throwing my ball,” she said.

Going forward Dumont expressed her excitement about representing Saskatchewan at Nationals.

“I feel if we stay focused and keep each other up and not let the bad frames get to us we’ll do amazing,” she said. “Eleven years of bowling and it’s my first year representing Sask. at Nationals and I wouldn’t want anyone else other then Bella by my side to share the experience with.”

Nationals will be held in Ottawa and run from May 5 to May 9.
