Support for STARS soars through radiothon

Apr 10, 2024 | 8:15 PM

Donations are still coming in, but the Critical Care on the Air Radiothon for STARS Air Ambulance in Saskatchewan appears to have been a success with more than $430,000 raised.

Over the last two days, more than 40 radio stations across the province supported the event by encouraging donations and sharing inspiring stories from patients who have received care from STARS.

The Government of Saskatchewan provides approximately 50 per cent of the annual operating funds required for the Regina and Saskatoon bases. The remaining funds (about $10 million annually) are acquired through provincial fundraising efforts.

The funds from this Radiothon go directly to supporting missions across Saskatchewan. This includes purchases like fuel for helicopters, the medical supplies used during missions, training of crews and developing innovations that improve outcomes for patients.
