SIIT trades program gets financial boost
For the second year running, the trades program operated by the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies will get a $30,000 boost from Contractor Connection and SGI.
The money will be divided among the 10 career centres SIIT operates in Saskatchewan, including Prince Albert, Battlefords, Creighton, La Ronge, La Loche, Lloydminster and Meadow Lake. They also operate in Saskatoon, Regina and Yorkton.
“The insurance and trade industry are entering into a critical phase where we all need to invest in the future for both these professions to ensure we have the unique skilled staff to rebuild homes, communities and business after insurance losses.”
Last year’s $30,000 donations went to buy 29 computers that students now use for tasks like getting safety tickets, writing resumes, online training and looking for jobs.
