One of the biggest weekends on Saskatchewan’s archery calendar took place in Prince Albert last weekend.

The Timberland Bowbenders Archery Club played host to this year’s JOP Championships and Indoor Target Provincials.

About 450 archers took part in Saturday’s events with another 400 in Sunday’s rounds.

This is the fourth consecutive year Timberland has hosted these tournaments according to President Tyson Brooman.

“For this event, we actually bid on it through Sask. Archery and we got it for five years. When we got the first time, we booked this venue for five years.”

Brooman added the weekend would not have been successful without the volunteers and sponsors who donated time, money, and prizes.

While this was just a provincial tournament, Brooman mentioned it helped prepare many archers for future competitions.

“I was watching for the Saskatchewan Summer Games I was watching archers for that today. The scores will go into Archery Canada, and they’ll pick their national team, World Team.”

Several members of Timberland Bowbenders medalled in the JPD Championships on Saturday.

The final results from the weekend competitions will be posted later this week.
