Ritchie to wear red and white at U18 Worlds

Prince Albert Raiders star forward Ryder Ritchie has been selected to represent Canada at the upcoming IIHF U18 World Championship.

The tournament begins April 25 in Finland.

Ritchie was one of seven WHL players named to Team Canada’s roster on Tuesday.

Despite an injury that kept him out of the lineup for an extended stretch, the 17-year-old winger still recorded 44 points in 47 games this past season. He won the WHL Rookie of the Year Award in 2022-2023.

The Kelowna, B.C. native previously won a gold medal with Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer.

Canada opens their tournament against Sweden on April 25.

Ritchie has also moved up to 19th spot on the final rankings from NHL Central Scouting ahead of this summer’s NHL draft.
