Trial for accused charged in mother’s death set for September

The trial for a 47-year-old North Battleford man facing a charge in the death of his mother is scheduled for this fall.

Walter Geering, who is in custody, is charged with second-degree murder.

Geering’s case has been committed for a 10-day jury trial at the Court of King’s Bench in Battleford starting Sept. 16.

He is next scheduled for a court appearance at 2 p.m. on May 30.

According to the RCMP, police responded after receiving a report on June 22, 2022 of an injured individual at a home on 93 Street in North Battleford. Officers and paramedics found a woman who was declared deceased.

She has since been identified as 72-year-old Beatrice Geering from North Battleford. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit confirmed the victim is the mother of the accused.
