Go Fund Me memorial helps Meadow Lake family after tragic loss

An online memorial Go Fund Me Page is giving support to a young Meadow Lake family dealing with grief after the husband died from cardiac arrest at a hospital in Edmonton, where he was receiving treatment.

Chandler Mysko, 25, passed away on April 15. He previously received a Mechanical Valve Placement as part of his heart surgery on April 10 in Saskatoon.

He leaves behind his wife Daylin Mysko and their four young sons.

A Go Fund Me Page was created by a relative of the family’s, Cathy Rowan. To date, $34,940 was donated by the community, far surpassing the goal of $5,000.

“We’re very happy if anyone would like to donate,” she said, adding that she was surprised with the amount of support for the cause. “It’s overwhelming. It is just wonderful the support the community has [shown]. It really is a beautiful thing, that part of it.”

Rowan said the fundraiser was set up to help cover costs for Chandler’s wife, Daylin, to travel and stay in Edmonton to be with her husband during his treatment.

However, now that he suddenly passed away and will not be returning home, the funds will continue to help the family, to cover funeral expenses and assist Daylin in raising the children on her own.

“It’s so unfortunate,” Rowan said of Chandler’s passing. “They are very thankful for the community and support they’ve received. The Go Fund Me, and the support they received from everyone helped when they were in Edmonton. Now that they are back home in Meadow Lake, they are really feeling the love and support of the community, family and friends.”

She noted with Daylin having four little boys to take care of, the donation will be helpful, to have a little extra.

“It’s something she [Daylin] doesn’t have to worry about right now,” Rowan said. “We would never want her to have to worry about that. She has enough [to worry about] right now.”

Rowan said a Celebration of Life for Chandler is expected to take place at a future date, still to be finalized.
