People in North Battleford will see more fire trucks and firefighters this weekend as well as some more smoke. But they shouldn’t be concerned, as the North Battleford Fire Dept. will be hosting the Saskatchewan Volunteer Firefighters Association’s Spring Training events.

All the activity will take place Friday to Sunday at the Firefighters’ Training Grounds off of Airport Road.

“It’s anticipated about 300 firefighters from across the province will be in attendance, with significant involvement from the North Battleford Fire Department as trainers for a number of the courses,” the city said in a release.

Organizers plan to hold a number of outdoor training exercises at the Training Grounds on Saturday and Sunday and the public is also invited to come and watch.

On-site personnel will direct people to a safely cordoned off area, where they can take in the exercises.

“Attendees are asked to obey all directions provided, in the interest of their safety,” the city stated, adding that they should also park along Airport Road and walk into the grounds through the gates.

Full details of the activities and times are available on the Saskatchewan Volunteer Firefighters Association’s website .
