Another successful year for the Prince Albert Music Festival culminates in the Gala Concert on Tuesday night.

The Gala Concert was first introduced last year to celebrate the festival’s 75th anniversary; because it was so well received, they decided to bring it back.

According to the President of the Festival Association, Jordana Thiessen, the concert will feature some of the festival’s best as recommended by the adjudicators.

“They have received scholarships, awards and even some of the performers are going on to the provincial festival, happening a little later on this year.”

This year’s festival started on Feb. 26 and ran until March 22 with students performing in several fields including piano, choral and voice, instrumental, and band.

Despite some bands not performing because of teacher sanctions, Thiessen said many did take the stage.

“Most of our bands were able to play and we even had a snowstorm thrown in there, but people were just such troopers,” she said.

The big Gala Concert is set to start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre and Thiessen said it is exciting that the performers will show their talents on the big stage.

“It’s a very different performance situation than it is at the festival, where it’s a very like, small, intimate group and then going out onto the big stage and being able to perform for more people is such an exciting thing,” she said.

Tickets for the Music Festival Gala Concert are still available and can be purchased on the EA Rawlinson Centre’s website.
