A man who has been on the run from police for over seven months, smiled when a judge mentioned the charges he was facing are quite serious.

Eric Sanche appeared Tuesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court and was remanded to May 28.

On Feb. 3, 2023 members with the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), and Prince Albert police patrol executed a search warrant, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), at a residence in the 500 Block of Sixth St. E. in Prince Albert.

During the investigation, police located a sawed-off .22 rifle, ammunition, 831 grams of cocaine, just over $8,500 in cash and further evidence of drug trafficking. The estimated street value of the cocaine seized is approximately $66,000.

Sanche was subsequently charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and several firearms offences. His last time in court was on Aug. 2, 2023, and was supposed to appear again two weeks later.

At the time, Sanche was under a number of release conditions, and according to discussion heard in court on Tuesday, he tore off his electronic monitoring bracelet.

Erica Morin was also charged in connection to the case and for the role she played, received a conditional discharge.
