Daring suspect climbs Prince Albert cell phone tower

May 31, 2024 | 12:02 PM

A mischief charge has been laid in connection to an incident in Prince Albert that resulted in a man climbing to the top of a cell phone tower.

Mitchell Fineday appeared Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court, and was released on bail with a number of conditions including a promise to show up for his court date on June 13.

According to discussion heard in court, the charge has to do with the fact that prior to climbing the tower Thursday evening, Fineday was allegedly inside the compound of a nearby business.

Fortunately the incident ended without Fineday getting hurt. (Nigel Maxwell/ paNOW Staff)

Multiple emergency vehicles responded to the scene near Marquis and Central Ave. and Fineday safely climbed down on his own.

Sources have told paNOW, his decison to climb the tower had more to do with thrill seeking and not a desire to inflict self-harm.

Fineday is also said to be the same man spotted earlier this week riding a train through city limits.
