Uber Eats expands to Tisdale, Humboldt

A well-known food delivery company is expanding to a pair of local communities.

Uber Eats recently launched in both Tisdale and Humboldt.

Uber Corporate Communications spokesperson Keerthana Rang says Uber Eats gives restaurants a chance to connect with more local customers and residents an opportunity to make more money through deliveries.

Rang told northeastNOW interested restaurants in those communities can sign up for their location, and what items they want to feature as their delivery options. She said the app is like a virtual storefront for customers to browse restaurants and their menus.

“Seventy per cent of people that come to a delivery app don’t know what they want to order yet, so it’s a really great way for restaurants to get discovered and get new customers,” Rang explained.

Rang said people can deliver by car, bike, or on foot, and can work as often, or as little, as they wish.

Deliveries aren’t limited to restaurants. Rang explained that other businesses can sign up, including grocery stores, liquor stores, and more.

“We just launched in Tisdale and Humboldt a couple of weeks ago, so as more weeks and months go on, the selection will increase and there will be more of these different…merchants on the platform.”

Rang said restaurants that have multiple locations throughout the province or across the country have asked Uber Eats when they will come to centres that didn’t previously have the app. She added the company took note of communities that weren’t served by Uber Eats and are looking to expand in those areas.
