Little Red Park will re-open tomorrow

Prince Albert’s Little Red River Park will re-open its core area to the public on Wednesday, June 25.

City officials say that the water levels on the river are high but peak flows have come and gone and the park is now safe to re-open.

Heavy rainfall had forced the operators of the Anglin Lake dam to allow some of the water in the reservoir out after levels rose to nine inches above safe levels.

In order to keep the integrity of the dam, water was released and the outflow was expected to reach what was seen in 2013.

Early indications are that the banks of the river have held up. Inspections will occur as water levels recede.

The road near Pine Grove Correctional Centre will remain closed for now.
