Roughing it in the bush is about to be a little less rough thanks to new infrastructure projects in Meadow Lake-area campgrounds.

New amenities such as a new campground loop, electrified campsites and more washrooms will welcome outdoor enthusiasts and campers this summer.

“We are excited to provide more beautiful spaces and facilities that every camper can enjoy,” said Laura Ross, minister for Parks, Culture and Sport.

According to a news release, Waterhen Lake Campground is set to have 42 electrified campsites along the new loop, a four bay-service centre and a water treatment system that will serve the flush washrooms.

Stabler Point Campground on Makwa Lake will open a new service centre that offer more accessible and family friendly areas and Jeremy Harrison, minister of Tourism Saskatchewan said in the release, “We are enhancing the visitor experience and providing more opportunities to explore provincial parks.”

The projects were part of the government capital project funding of $13.8 million and preventative maintenance funding of $1.7 million – part of this year’s budget.
