Members of the Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU) were corralling criminals in what they called a warrant round-up.

Between May 29 and June 29, members conducted a warrant suppression operation within the city. With help from a criminal analyst, members attended multiple residences in an effort to locate and apprehend the offenders on their outstanding warrants. The warrants ranged between Criminal Code violations like sexual assault and robbery, to warrants for the Traffic Safety Act and Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act offences.

The PPU executed 143 warrants during the operation and arrested 49 people. The Crime Reduction Team analyst and the Information Management staff ensured all the disclosure needed for each arrested person to appear in court was completed.

In a press release, the police service said it consistently explores crime reduction strategies for known offenders that can positively address the root cause of crime in the area. It said focused efforts in directing resources to target criminal activities and holding individuals accountable, advances the strategic direction of the police service by enhancing public safety.
