Shooting incident in Nipawin proceeding to trial

A woman accused of attempted murder, will instead stand trial on a lesser offence of aggravated assault.

That was the outcome Tuesday of Denisha Bear’s preliminary inquiry hearing at Nipawin Provincial Court.

In the early morning hours of July 26, 2023, RCMP were called to a home in Nipawin. There was a report that a man was shot.

A 44-year-old man was located and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Bear’s trial will be held at Court of King’s Bench in Melfort. No dates have been set.

Stemming from the incident, Bear also had a number of other charges including uttering threats, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Those charges will be spoken to at provincial court on Aug. 19.
