Baseball and softball Provincials underway in P.A.

The 2024 Baseball Sask Provincial Championships are underway.

There are 320 baseball teams involved in tournament play throughout Saskatchewan including teams in the 11U, 13U, 15U, 18U and Senior men’s provincial formats.

The 11U AA Tier 1 Prince Albert Royals hosted the Moose Jaw Canucks Friday afternoon on Lypchuk Field in Crescent Acres ballpark. They were defeated 21-19 in extra innings.

The 11U Tier 7 Royals team is competing in Battlefords.

Prince Albert is also hosting the 1U5 AA Tier 4 provincials. Games will be played at Crescent Acres and Kinsmen Baseball Complex.

The 15U AA Tier 1 Prince Albert Royals team is in Estevan all weekend battling it out for the provincial title and the opportunity to attend Westerns.

Softball provincials

Meanwhile, other ball diamonds in Prince Albert are being filled with provincial softball action this weekend.

Both the Astros and the Aces kicked things off with wins at the U15 A Provincials at Prime Minister’s Park.

The boys team won 15-7 over the Valley Blue Jays and the Aces pitchers gave up only three runs in a big 10-3 win over the Saskatoon Raiders.
