Melfort RCMP seize firearms after traffic stop in Kinistino

Aug 7, 2024 | 10:12 AM

A call about people drinking in a parked vehicle in Kinistino has led to a firearms seizure.

Melfort RCMP received the call Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.

Officers spotted the vehicle after a patrol and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver didn’t stop for the police right away but pulled over a short time later.

The man driving the vehicle was arrested and the prohibited firearms in the vehicle were seized.

Creeden Dipaolo of James Smith Cree Nation faces several charges, including impaired driving, assault, and five firearms and weapons related offenses.

Dipaolo is slated to appear in court Oct. 7.

The Melfort RCMP thank the public for alerting them about the vehicle that likely would have otherwise gone undetected.
