Free library targeted by vandals

Aug 15, 2024 | 4:06 PM

Two of Nipawin’s three Little Free Libraries are in a state of disrepair after being targeted by vandals.

The libraries, which are wooden bookcases on a pole, have been placed around town to give children easy access to free books.

People can leave books or borrow books when they want.

The library at Pinedale Park is no longer stocked because the Rotary Club, which runs the libraires, is waiting for new plexi-glass after the previous glass was broken.

Now the East Pleasantview Library has also been damaged, with some of the framing and the plexi-glass broken. This one has been repaired and the Botting Park library is currently in good condition.

“We are trying to keep the libraries stocked and clean but it is challenging when damage occurs. We ask that people respect the libraries and their contents. Everyone deserves access to these books!,” said the Rotary Club in a social media post.
