A local Home Hardware owner has been honoured for his efforts.

Dustin Chalus is the dealer-owner of Richardson’s Home Hardware in Nipawin. He was recognized as the Best Young Retailer – Western Region at the Proud of My Home Achievement Awards at Home Hardware’s 2024 Homecoming event in Toronto last Thursday.

In a news release, Home Hardware stated the Best Young Retailer award “celebrates the next generation of independent home retailers who demonstrate outstanding job performance, contribution to their business and innovation.”

Chalus said he’s honoured to be recognized with the award.

“As a fourth-generation owner, I am proud to carry on my family’s legacy in the region and keep this small-town, locally owned business running to support its great community. It takes a village, and I proudly share this recognition with my team at Richardson’s and our community of loyal customers,” Chalus said in the release.

Dustin’s great-grandparents opened a “five-cents-to-a-dollar store” back in 1952, and Dustin and his mom began work with Home Hardware back in January of 2020.

“Every day Dustin is honouring his family legacy through exceptional leadership, not just with his staff but also in his community.”
