Local murder cases to return to court later this month

Another quick court appearance via video for two men charged with second-degree murder.

Cody Chubey, 35, is charged with murder in connection to a woman’s death in Melfort in March.

Chubey had been involved in a long-term relationship with the victim in the case, Danielle Dobersheck.

He will return to Melfort Provincial Court by video Oct. 28.

A Naicam man charged with killing a relative will also appear via video in Melfort on that date after a brief appearance by video on Tuesday.

Fifty-seven-year-old Kevin Swanson was charged with second-degree murder after an incident in May.

Melfort RCMP were called about a serious assault at a home in Naicam, and 81-year-old Dennis Swanson was pronounced dead at the scene.
