Rollover kills teen

Man charged after teen killed in rollover near Hall Lake

Charges have been laid after a fatal crash near Hall Lake.

La Ronge RCMP were called to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 165 south of Hall Lake on Saturday.

A passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital by EMS and the 15-year-old male from the La Ronge area was later declared dead.

The driver was not injured in the rollover.

As a result of the investigation, a Derek Ratt, age 41, of La Ronge was charged with:

• one count, operation while impaired (drug) of motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.14(3), Criminal Code;
• one count, operation while impaired (alcohol) of motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.14(3), Criminal Code; and
• one count, dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.13(3), Criminal Code.

Ratt appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court this morning and his next appearance has been set for November 18. He has been released on bail.
